“I studied under many teachers at first until I found the teacher who perfectly expressed my own feelings about painting. His name is Frank Mason. I was with Mason first as a student and then as his assistant until 1970.”
He also served as a member of the board of control of the A.S.L.
After completing his studies at the A.S.L., Scott continued his studies and painting in Florence, Italy, where he gave his first exposition.
After returning to the United States - first New York City and later San Francisco - Scott continued to paint and show his work, as well as to teach painting.
In 2001, Scott moved to the small town of San Mateo Rio Hondo, in the Sierra Madre Sur of Oaxaca, Mexico.
“Most artists choose one path and adhere to it. This does not suit my nature. I love working from my imagination, but I also love working from nature. I have been doing landscapes since 1967. Surrounded by the beauty of where I live and work, I continue to do landscapes daily.”
Scott is currently planning a series of workshops here in San Mateo Rio Hondo. If you are interested in purchasing one of Scott’s paintings, or are interested in studying landscape painting, please contact the artist by clicking below.
